When my Mom died, I was faced with an immediate need for 24 hour home care for my Dad. A nursing home was not an option as I knew that he needed to be in his own home or he would decline. Private care was rapidly consuming the little savings he had. I considered applying for Medicaid for him, but heard so many horror stories about the process that I began to feel overwhelmed.

I contacted Colin Sandler on the advise of a friend. Taking the reins from me, she was able to successfully navigate through this grueling process and I was able to focus on helping Dad adjust to life without Mom. In addition, Colin set up a Pooled Trust (NYSARC) which takes my Dad’s excess income over and above the Medicaid allowed amount. This excess is available to him to pay for many of his expenses, thus allowing him to stay in his own home.
